John Crawford Marine is honoured to bring to the market a very special Noelex 25 trailer sailer. These boats are keenly sort after on the trailer sailor scene for a multitude of reasons. If you have a “wish” list you’ll find upon inspection of this beautifully maintained vessel that she will tick most of your boxes.
“Seabird” was crafted circa 1989 in Goolwa, South Australia. Owned and made for one of the company’s staff, currently she is with her third owner and has spent the last 14 years maintained to the highest standard and stored undercover in a shed. As the photos depict she has been lovingly looked after. The interior was modernised with fresh upholstery, adding light and volume into the cabin. At 25 feet so much of this boat has usable space due to the practical layout.
If you would like to research some of the original documents and marketing material check out our Trailer sailor library at the following link as we have some amazing historical documents, electronically stored for future reference and for further education on these remarkable vessels. http://www.johncrawfordmarine.com.au/trailer-sailer/library
The trailer under this Noelex was a custom design and fabricated as a one off for this boat on 2002 at a considerable cost. The frame is extra heavy duty; suspension is independent Alko ensuring the boat is cradled when towing and nurtured from bumps and humps! The rear light vertical rails swing outwards and forward when launching to ensure lights out of the way and they don’t meet the water – reduce maintenance! Queensland buyers will receive a road worthy certificate and all other states and or territory; the trailer is still sold meeting your states trailering standards. The quality Powerwinch was only replaced 12 months and all keel rollers have stainless steel pins.
The motor has also been replaced and upgraded to a 4 stroke 9.9Hp Mercury 2004 model electric start motor. The motor with its high thrust propeller pushes the rig effortlessly and efficiently when not under sail. Naturally the motor provides a charge when running back to the battery (s). Two brand new batteries were installed January 2015.
A design feature of the Noelex is the location of the motor which is mounted in the cockpit under the floor board. Several advantages with this location, one being in a following sea, the motor is not lifted out of the water as happens a lot when the engines are mounted on the external transom. I must admit I like also how the boats lines remain “clean” with no motor hanging of the back!
The current owners of the past 14 years have only sailed with the main sail and self-furling jib, no racing, no competitive stints, just enjoyed time on arguably one the best trailer sailors. However the sail wardrobe isn’t limited only to these two sails, there is an assortment of head sails and a spinnaker that they have not used. They stress that these additional sails have been stored dry and in a vermin proof cupboards. A boom tent also allows for some protection when at rest from the sun and or rainy weather.
